For quite some time now, speculations have been rife that Sony will announce the long-awaited launch of its Xperia 10 handset, in conjunction with carrier partner AT&T, between early August and mid-September.
Though there has been no official disclosure about the retail pricing of the Xperia 10, earlier reports have indicated that the handset will cost nearly $USD 345 for independent dealers.
While the Xperia 10 was appeared to be a very compelling handset when it was first announced last year, the notable enhancement of the Android scenario over the time has probably made this handset somewhat outdated already – more so because the device will apparently run Android version 1.6 when most Android handsets are upgrading to Android 2.0 version!
Commenting on the teaser that features an Xperia-shaped object and says “Smarter is coming,” Engadget remarked: “There’s no indication these X10s will have anything other than the dusty Android 1.6-based platform they’ve been running everywhere since their global launch, so get ready to travel back in time.”!
