Vodafone is adding another device to its range of smart phones. The Samsung Galaxy S i9000 is a powerful Android based smart phone that’s bound to impress. The Samsung Galaxy S offers the complete package of exciting mobile applications and powerful hardware to deliver a mobile experience that’s always integrated, immersive and intelligent.
The slim 9.9mm Galaxy S is packed with an over sized 4.0” Super AMOLED display, 1GHz processor, ultra fast data transfer and a generous 8GB memory expandable to 32GB.
The device is currently reading as Out of Stock on the Vodafone Online Store.
It runs Android 2.1 (will be upgradeable to 2.2) software and has some innovative new technology such as Swype text and DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance, the ability to move movies, photos, music and other media from device to device). The Samsung Galaxy S also doubles as a wireless hotspot enabling you to share your 3G/HSPA data connection via Wi-Fi to multiple Wi-Fi enabled PCs and smart phones.
Vodafone General Manager of Consumer Marketing, Kursten Shalfoon says,The Samsung Galaxy S is available now with a RRP$999, discounted if connecting on one of Vodafone's new Smart plans.“The Samsung Galaxy S fits perfectly into the premium end of our smart phone line-up, for the customer whose mobile defines who they are. Their smart phone is an integral part of their social and busy life.
One of the features I’m most impressed with is Swype text, typing has never been so fast on a touch screen mobile. The Samsung Galaxy S operates on our extended 3G network so Kiwis can enjoy reliable, fast broadband speeds on our smart network out to 97% of where they work and play”.
The Samsung Galaxy S will shortly be joined by its smaller sibling, the Samsung Galaxy 580, an affordable full touch screen Android 2.1 based smart phone which will be available in October

The rumors began a few weeks ago about a follow-up device of the HTC Desire called the HTC Desire HD or HTC Ace.
Very recently this Android phone appeared in a Vodafone inventory system in Germany along with the HTC Desire Z (aka HTC Vision).
While the shape of the phone is almost the same, the specs are different from the current Desire.
